B-7000 PROJECT GUIDE 18

How to Remove B-7000 Glue Residue Safely

Start with the least aggressive cleanup method and protect the finish beneath unwanted adhesive.

Before you begin

Read the directions supplied with your specific adhesive and test the complete material combination on a hidden area or spare sample.

Identify both the residue and surface

Fresh squeeze-out and fully cured adhesive may require different handling. Painted plastic, plated metal, fabric and bare glass also tolerate different methods. Confirm the material before choosing a cleaner or tool.

Begin with mechanical restraint

Do not scrape blindly with a metal blade. If the surface guidance permits, start with a soft edge, gentle rolling motion or another non-scratching method. Stop if the finish begins to lift, haze or stretch.

Treat solvent advice cautiously

A cleaner that dissolves residue may also damage paint, plastic, coatings or adhesive holding other parts. Consult the glue label and object maker, ventilate as directed and test a hidden area before any wider use.

Know when to leave it alone

On valuable, electronic or delicate objects, aggressive cleanup can cost more than the residue. If the correct method is uncertain, pause and ask the product seller or a repair professional familiar with that material.
