Read the directions supplied with your specific adhesive and test the complete material combination on a hidden area or spare sample.
Identify the actual finish
A phone case, tumbler or shoe may have paint, powder coating, varnish or a soft-touch layer over the base material. Record the object, the finish and the rhinestone backing. Compatibility depends on the complete stack, not just the word plastic or metal.
Test a hidden or spare sample
Clean the area using a method suitable for the object, place one or two stones with the same B-7000 tube and leave them undisturbed for the label-directed cure. Check adhesion, colour change, clouding and whether the finish has softened.
Add a movement check
After curing, flex or handle the sample in the same way the finished object will be used. A bond that looks good on a flat card may fail on a shoe bend, clothing seam or phone case corner.
Record the result before the full project
Write down the surface, cleaning method, stone size and glue tube used. If the test fails, choose another area or material rather than trying to hide the problem under a larger pattern.
Quick checklist
- Identify coatings and finishes
- Test with the same stone and glue
- Simulate real movement
- Record a pass or fail before scaling up
