B-7000 PROJECT GUIDE 14

Using B-7000 Glue on Metal Jewellery and Crafts

Plan small metal-to-rhinestone and metal-to-decoration bonds with careful surface preparation.

Before you begin

Read the directions supplied with your specific adhesive and test the complete material combination on a hidden area or spare sample.

Identify the finish, not only the metal

Bare metal, plated jewellery and painted metal can react differently to cleaning and adhesive. Test an unseen area and check whether the finish scratches, stains or lifts before working on the visible surface.

Improve contact without damaging the piece

Remove dust and skin oils using a method suitable for the finish. Do not aggressively sand plated or decorative surfaces unless their maker specifically allows it; damaging the coating can create a weaker and less attractive result.

Stabilise small findings

Use a tray or soft support so a pendant, clip or charm cannot roll while you place decorations. Plan the sequence so tools do not touch stones that are already aligned.

Keep jewellery use in mind

Avoid adhesive on piercing posts, skin-contact edges, clasps and moving joints. A decorated item should be checked for loose or sharp parts before each use, especially when small components could be swallowed.

Quick checklist

  • Use finish-safe cleaning
  • Support small parts
  • Keep mechanisms clear
