B-7000 PROJECT GUIDE 17

B-7000 Glue for Jewellery Repair: A Project Checklist

Decide when a small decorative jewellery repair is appropriate and how to keep moving parts clear.

Before you begin

Read the directions supplied with your specific adhesive and test the complete material combination on a hidden area or spare sample.

Separate decoration from structure

Replacing a decorative stone is different from repairing a load-bearing chain, valuable setting or safety-critical clasp. Structural or high-value repairs should be assessed by a qualified jewellery professional.

Dry-fit the replacement

Confirm the stone or part sits correctly before using adhesive. Remove loose debris with a finish-safe method and protect nearby surfaces. A replacement that rocks or leaves a large gap may need a different repair approach.

Apply away from moving parts

Keep adhesive out of hinges, springs, clasps, screw threads and piercing posts. Work under bright light and use the precision tip or a suitable placement tool to control the amount.

Check comfort and security

After the full directed cure, inspect the repair from every side. Make sure no sharp residue touches skin and no small part moves under gentle normal handling. Recheck the item before future wear.
